Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join its General Liability and Complex Litigation team in Chicago, IL. This hybrid role offers a blend of remote and in-person work, providing attorneys with hands-on litigation experience and direct client exposure. The position involves managing cases alongside respected trial attorneys in a collaborative environment.

Duties

• Manage an active litigation caseload with partner guidance.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and other litigation-related documents.
• Take and defend depositions, appear in court, and participate in mediations.
• Handle case strategy and client communication.
• Work on complex, high-stakes matters for national clients.
• Gain experience in all phases of litigation through trial and resolution.

Requirements

• Active license to practice law in Illinois.
• Minimum of 2 years of civil defense litigation experience.
• Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
• Experience with depositions, discovery, and case management.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proactive mindset and ownership of assignments.
• Preferred: Trial experience, federal court experience, dual licensure.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in Illinois.
