Job Overview

A law firm seeks a midlevel associate attorney to join its Environment, Energy & Resources practice group in Washington, DC. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of digital infrastructure and energy transition, engaging with state and federal regulatory frameworks to shape future energy landscapes.

Duties

  • Negotiate power purchase agreements and custom energy service agreements.
  • Advise on electric market design issues within RTOs/ISOs.
  • Represent clients in proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
  • Counsel clients on emerging energy policy and renewable energy integration.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of experience in energy law, with regulatory and transactional expertise.
  • Familiarity with the Federal Power Act and power market mechanics.
  • Ability to draft bespoke energy contracts.
  • Admitted to practice or eligible to waive into the jurisdiction of the office location.

Education

  • JD from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.

Skills

  • Strong negotiation and drafting skills.
  • Expertise in regulatory compliance and market design.
  • Excellent communication and analytical abilities.
