Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly qualified Bankruptcy and Litigation Associate in Richmond, VA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in litigation and a keen interest in bankruptcy and insolvency matters. This role involves active participation in court proceedings and collaboration with clients and attorneys to ensure successful case outcomes.

Duties

• Prepare court pleadings, including drafting motions and responses.
• File and answer discovery requests in various courts.
• Research and draft memoranda of law and briefs.
• Participate in pretrial and trial hearings and proceedings.
• Prepare attorneys and clients for trials and depositions.
• Assist in the preparation of appeal briefs and oral arguments.

Requirements

• Two or more years of litigation experience preferred.
• Interest in employment law, creditors' rights, and restructuring preferred.
• Superb research and analytical skills.
• Strong organizational and matter management skills.
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
• Connection to the Richmond area preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the Virginia Bar.
• Additional bar admission in Maryland, DC, and/or North Carolina desirable.

Skills

• Licensed to practice law and in good standing in Virginia.
• Meet continuing licensure requirements for law practice.
