Job Overview:
A progressive, women-led law firm in the San Rafael is seeking an Associate Employment Attorney to join its team. This position involves advising clients on California employment law, conducting impartial workplace and Title IX investigations, and delivering workplace trainings. Location:

Duties:

  • Provide expert advice and counsel to employers on California employment law and workplace best practices

  • Conduct fair and objective investigations, including Title IX cases, by interviewing witnesses, reviewing documentation, and writing detailed reports

  • Deliver interactive workplace trainings on topics such as harassment prevention, DEI, and employee relations

  • Draft and review employment policies, handbooks, agreements, and settlement documentation

  • Perform legal research and monitor changes in employment law and compliance requirements

  • Maintain well-organized and accurate case files

  • Contribute content to firm blogs and thought-leadership platforms

  • Collaborate with legal team to ensure timely, high-quality service delivery to clients

Requirements:

  • 4–8 years of experience practicing California employment law, with a focus on advice and counsel and/or workplace investigations

  • Applicants with less than 4 years of experience in these specific areas may also be considered at a lower salary range

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize effectively

  • Experience producing clear, concise, and comprehensive investigation reports

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in California

  • Association of Workplace Investigators Certificate Holder (AWI-CH) preferred; firm will sponsor enrollment if not yet obtained

Skills:

  • Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and emotional intelligence

  • Ability to quickly build rapport and trust with diverse clients and witnesses

  • Fluency in Spanish is a significant plus

  • Team-oriented mindset and a proactive, solutions-driven approach
