Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mid-level transactional attorney to join its affordable housing and community development practice in Chicago, IL. This role offers the opportunity to engage in meaningful work with a path to future partnership, focusing on real estate development, financing, and investment.

Duties

  • Draft and negotiate a wide range of equity and financing agreements.
  • Conduct due diligence and review titles and surveys.
  • Coordinate and oversee real estate components for debt and equity project financing transactions.
  • Advise on a broad range of real estate matters.
  • Mentor, train, and manage junior attorneys, paralegals, and project assistants.
  • Manage multiple large, complex transactions.

Requirements

  • 5 years of practicing transactional experience in the legal industry, ideally in real estate.
  • Membership in good standing with the state bar where you reside.
  • Ability and desire to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Capacity to handle a variety of complex matters under strict deadlines and pressure.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Bar membership in the state of residence.
