A law firm is seeking an Intellectual Property Attorney with a focus on Computer Science/Electrical Engineering for its office in Salt Lake City, UT.

Job Overview:

The Intellectual Property Attorney will be responsible for providing legal counsel and representation in matters related to patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, with a specialization in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering.

Duties:

  • Conducting patent searches and analyses.
  • Drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Providing strategic advice on intellectual property matters.
  • Conducting due diligence for intellectual property transactions.
  • Handling intellectual property litigation matters, including infringement disputes.
  • Negotiating and drafting licensing agreements.
  • Conducting intellectual property audits.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Utah State Bar or eligibility for admission via reciprocity.
  • Experience practicing intellectual property law, with a focus on Computer Science/Electrical Engineering.
  • Proven track record of successful patent prosecution and litigation experience.
  • Strong understanding of patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret law.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Certifications:

  • Patent Bar admission is preferred.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in conducting patent searches and analyses.
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for client interaction and negotiation.
