Job Overview

A law firm seeks an attorney with over 6 years of experience in Salt Lake City, Utah, specializing in intellectual property, technology law, and artificial intelligence laws and regulations. The successful candidate will assist clients in navigating compliance challenges, risk management, product counseling, and policy development related to AI technologies across various jurisdictions globally.

Duties

  • Advise clients on AI-related laws, regulations, standards, and ethical guidelines, including the EU AI Act and U.S. AI laws.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts involving AI technologies and services.
  • Support clients in developing internal AI governance policies and ethical use frameworks.
  • Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments related to AI.
  • Collaborate with data privacy and intellectual property attorneys.
  • Contribute to thought leadership through articles, webinars, and client alerts.

Requirements

  • Excellent academic credentials and a commitment to ethics.
  • Highly motivated, hardworking, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and supervise a team of junior attorneys and staff.
  • Responsive team player with excellent writing skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Member of the Utah Bar or willing to become a member as soon as possible.

Skills

  • Law firm experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations related to AI.
  • Experience in intellectual property law, particularly in copyright or patent drafting for AI technologies.
  • Experience in privacy law.
  • Background in computer science or engineering preferred.
