Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Immigration Attorney in Medford, MA. This role is ideal for an attorney with prior immigration law experience who can independently manage cases, collaborate on complex matters, and contribute to the growth of the immigration practice. The attorney will handle family-based and removal defense cases, guiding clients through emotionally sensitive situations in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Duties

  • Independently handle a variety of immigration matters including family petitions, waivers, and removal defense.
  • Prepare motions, briefs, evidentiary packets, and legal correspondence.
  • Conduct legal research and develop case strategies.
  • Represent clients before USCIS and EOIR, attending interviews and hearings.
  • Communicate with clients to gather evidence and provide updates.
  • Oversee paralegal work and provide guidance as needed.
  • Maintain organized case files and ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Support departmental initiatives and contribute to workflow improvements.

Requirements

  • 1-2+ years of hands-on immigration law experience.
  • Strong knowledge of USCIS, EOIR, NVC, waivers, and consular processing.
  • Fluency in Portuguese or Spanish is highly preferred; fluency in both is an extreme plus.
  • Ability to manage a significant caseload with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Strong client communication and counseling skills.
  • Proficiency with case management systems and cloud-based legal tools.

Education

  • J.D. and admission to any U.S. state bar (Massachusetts preferred).

Certifications

  • Admission to any U.S. state bar (Massachusetts preferred).

Skills

  • Excellent legal writing, analysis, and research abilities.
  • Ability to develop case strategies with limited supervision.
  • High degree of empathy, professionalism, and cultural awareness.
