Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join its office in Plano, Texas. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of litigation experience, with a preference for those familiar with tort, professional liability, homeowner's association, labor/employment, or construction defect matters. This role requires maintaining client confidentiality and working collaboratively within a team.

Duties

  • Provide initial analysis and develop case strategy.
  • Prepare and respond to discovery.
  • Take and defend depositions, draft motions, and attend hearings.
  • Explain legal options to clients and highlight potential outcomes or threats.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients.
  • Negotiate, research, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • In good standing and able to practice law in Texas.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and solid academic background.
  • Urgency in problem-solving, meeting deadlines, and achieving goals.
  • Knowledgeable, attentive, and proactive.
  • Excellent communicator, negotiator, public speaker, and problem solver.
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented with a track record of meeting billable hours goals.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and effective.
  • Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook; experience with iManage and/or OneDrive is a plus.
