Duties

  • Draft documents such as correspondence, pleadings, motions, and contracts for legal proceedings and negotiations.
  • Communicate with senior associates, paralegals, and clients to ensure efficient case handling.
  • Maintain organized client files for accessibility by the legal team.
  • Assist clients in resolving legal conflicts and determining the best course of action.
  • Perform legal research and prepare for hearings or other legal proceedings.
  • Represent clients in family court actions and contested custody matters.
  • Conduct initial client consultations and provide sound legal advice.
  • Advocate for clients in hearings and mediations.
  • Maintain thorough records in the firm's case management system.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of the bar exam.
  • Member in good standing with the ABA.
  • South Carolina Bar License or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
  • Completion of South Carolina Rule 403 trial observation requirements or ability to complete within 6 months of hire.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • South Carolina Bar License.

Skills

  • Solid communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in basic office programs and willingness to learn case management software.
