A law firm seeks a Tax Attorney specializing in nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations in Greenville, NC. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience advising on tax compliance, governance, and regulatory requirements for Section 501(c) organizations. Duties

  • Advise on Section 501(c) status and compliance.
  • Provide guidance on IRS filings, including Form 1023 and Form 990.
  • Counsel on UBTI, private foundation rules, and intermediate sanctions.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and joint ventures.
  • Assist clients in IRS audits and disputes.
  • Advise boards on governance and fiduciary duties.
  • Draft and review policies and agreements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of experience with tax-exempt organizations.
  • Experience in nonprofit governance and tax compliance.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid authorization to work in the U.S.

Education

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
