Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Litigation Attorney specializing in Personal Injury to join their team in either Stockton or Los Angeles, California. This full-time, on-site position involves managing personal injury cases from inception to resolution, providing legal advice, and representing clients in various legal proceedings throughout California.

Duties

  • Handle personal injury case files from start to finish, managing a full caseload.
  • Evaluate potential personal injury claims and advise prospective clients.
  • Draft, review, and modify legal documents including claims, motions, and pleadings.
  • Conduct legal research and gather relevant evidence, with preferred experience using Westlaw.
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, and insurance adjusters to gather information.
  • Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients.
  • Appear in court for hearings, trials, and attend mediations and depositions.
  • Document and update case statuses in the case management system, preferably CasePeer.
  • Manage a team of paralegals, legal assistants, and other support staff.
  • Track appointments and court deadlines according to the California Code of Civil Procedure.
  • Calculate costs and compensation for settlement presentations.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Licensed and admitted to the California State Bar.
  • 1-5 years of experience in Plaintiff Personal Injury preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • California State Bar admission.

Skills

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency in case management software, preferably CasePeer.
  • Ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
