Job Overview

A well-regarded intellectual property law firm is seeking a full-time Patent Attorney with a background in electrical engineering. This position is ideal for a recent law graduate or early-career attorney looking to grow their career in a supportive and structured professional environment. Attorneys in this role will receive personalized mentorship, gain hands-on experience in patent preparation and prosecution, and progressively expand their responsibilities as they develop proficiency in patent law and client portfolio management.

Duties

  • Prepare and prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications

  • Analyze Office Actions and develop appropriate response strategies

  • Manage docketing and file maintenance tasks accurately and efficiently

  • Collaborate with other attorneys and technical staff on complex patent matters

  • Engage in continuous legal and technical training to expand subject matter expertise

Requirements

  • 0–3 years of experience in patent law (entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply)

  • Demonstrated interest in intellectual property and patent prosecution

  • Strong commitment to producing high-quality, detail-oriented work

  • Ability to learn proprietary systems and firm procedures quickly

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field

Certifications

  • Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) (required)

Skills

  • Technical proficiency and a quick learning curve for complex subject matter

  • Interest or experience in semiconductors, power systems, wireless technology, or signal processing (preferred but not required)

  • Excellent written communication and analytical skills

  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team structure
