Job Overview

A law firm seeks a dedicated Remote Immigration Attorney based in Los Angeles, CA. This role offers a promising opportunity for an admitted attorney within Puerto Rico to gain valuable experience and advance their career in immigration law. The successful candidate will manage their caseload, interact with clients, and collaborate with a team of attorneys and legal assistants.

Duties

  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions.
  • Represent individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a workload of diverse cases.
  • Conduct intake with detained individuals at centers.
  • Prepare immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration application packets as needed.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and community organizations on immigration law changes.
  • Conduct strategic consultations with potential clients.
  • Develop strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court/USCIS testimony.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward.
  • Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, EOIR, detained cases, citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Familiarity with case management software preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law in Puerto Rico.

  • Strong legal analysis and strategic planning abilities.
  • Excellent communication and client interaction skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
