Associate Attorney - Litigation

Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney with 5-7 years of experience to join the Litigation Practice Group in Chicago, Illinois. The role involves working on commercial litigation related to financial services, securities, and complex financial transactions. An Illinois law license is required.

Duties

• Manage cases from inception through discovery, trial preparation, and trial.
• Conduct and defend depositions.
• Participate in settlement conferences, hearings, and trials.
• Prepare motions, discovery responses, and client reports.
• Assist in trial preparation, including strategy, discovery, records review, client interviews, and witness preparation.
• Appear in court and argue substantive motions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of litigation-based practice required; experience with commercial business dispute matters preferred.
• Experience taking and defending depositions.
• Superior analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Trial, arbitration, or evidentiary hearing experience.
• Portable business or demonstrated business development interest is a plus, but not required.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in Illinois.
