Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Attorney with a minimum of 4 years of litigation experience to join their Wilmington, NC office. The role involves handling healthcare litigation and medical malpractice defense, working with top-tier hospitals, clinics, and providers. Duties

  • Manage a diverse caseload independently.
  • Conduct and defend depositions, including client and expert witness preparation.
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and conduct legal research for complex matters.
  • Argue motions in state and federal court.
  • Provide excellent client service through communication and counsel.
  • Negotiate issues with opposing counsel, including settlement discussions.
  • Prepare for and attend mediations and review settlement documents.
  • Engage in trial preparation, including strategy and witness preparation.

Requirements

  • Active North Carolina law license, in good standing.
  • 4+ years of litigation experience.
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to client service and collaborative teamwork.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina.

Skills

  • Knowledge of statutory interpretation, HIPAA laws, and healthcare industry.
  • Proficiency in general technology skills, including GenAI, billing software, and Microsoft Suite.
  • Ability to make individual and group presentations and write client-focused updates.
