Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Patent Agent or Associate to join its Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Patent Prosecution practice group in Houston, TX. The role involves managing patent preparation and prosecution for a diverse client base, focusing on electrical engineering and software-related technologies.

Duties

  • Draft and file high-quality patent applications.
  • Oversee patent preparation and prosecution processes.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of submissions.
  • Collaborate with clients on patent strategies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years' relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • Undergraduate or advanced degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, computer science, physics, or mathematics.
  • Experience with graphics processing units, tensor processing units, accelerators, neural engines, and robotics circuitry and actuators is preferred.

Education

  • Undergraduate or advanced degree in relevant fields.

Certifications

  • Admission to the USPTO is required.
  • JD and active bar admission in the jurisdiction of practice for associate candidates.

Skills

  • Superb writing and communication skills.
  • High level of academic achievement.
  • Solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience.
