Job Overview

A law firm seeks a full-time Associate Attorney with litigation experience to join their team in Charleston, West Virginia. The firm handles a wide range of complex cases, including personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, and insurance bad faith litigation.

Duties

  • Handle all aspects of civil litigation, from intake through trial and appeal.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and legal memoranda.
  • Conduct and defend depositions of parties, experts, and witnesses.
  • Attend court hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Manage client communications and case strategy in coordination with senior attorneys.
  • Perform legal research and case analysis.
  • Contribute to trial preparation, including exhibit organization and witness preparation.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active member in good standing of the West Virginia State Bar (or eligibility for admission).
  • 2+ years of litigation experience preferred; personal injury or insurance litigation experience strongly valued.
  • Excellent writing, research, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Commitment to client service and professionalism.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active member in good standing of the West Virginia State Bar (or eligibility for admission).
