Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Workers' Compensation Attorney in Charlotte, NC to represent injured employees in North Carolina Workers' Compensation cases at various judicial levels.

Duties

  • Represent injured employees in NC workers' compensation cases.
  • Provide legal advice and representation during all case stages.
  • Assist clients in obtaining benefits under the NC Workers' Compensation Act.
  • Litigate cases at Deputy Commissioner, Full Commission, and Court of Appeals levels.
  • Draft pleadings, discovery, orders, and motions.
  • Negotiate settlement agreements and releases.
  • Draft briefs for various levels of the NC Industrial Commission and Court of Appeals.
  • Oversee and manage Case Managers and Paralegals.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • License to practice law in North Carolina.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Workers' Compensation or insurance defense firm.
  • Experience with complex Workers' Compensation claims.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional analytical, writing, and communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with initiative to work independently.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Extensive knowledge of medical issues in Workers' Compensation claims.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows/Office and ability to learn new software.
  • Experience with Litify software is preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • License to practice law in North Carolina.

  • Knowledge of Workers' Compensation claims and hearing processes.
