Job Overview

A well-established law firm is seeking a qualified Workers’ Compensation Attorney to join its Workers’ Compensation & Social Security Disability Department. This role involves representing injured workers and advocating on their behalf in complex legal proceedings. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of relevant experience, excellent writing and client service skills, and the ability to manage cases independently from inception through hearing.

Location

  • Buffalo, New York

Duties

  • Represent injured workers in Workers’ Compensation and/or Social Security Disability cases.

  • Draft pleadings, motions, findings of fact, briefs, and legal opinions.

  • Prepare clients for hearings and appear before Administrative Law Judges.

  • Conduct opening/closing statements and cross-examinations of vocational and medical experts.

  • Analyze case files and address legal and factual issues specific to each case.

  • Manage client communication and ensure high-quality service throughout the legal process.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Workers’ Compensation and/or Social Security Disability law.

  • Licensed to practice law in the State of New York.

  • Ability to manage a full caseload and conduct hearings independently.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with clients, medical providers, and administrative officials.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the New York State Bar in good standing.

Skills

  • Excellent legal writing and drafting skills.

  • Strong verbal communication and courtroom advocacy skills.

  • Well-organized with strong time-management abilities.

  • Client-focused approach with a commitment to effective legal representation.

  • Familiarity with Workers’ Compensation procedures and case law.
