Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Associate Attorney to join their Probate & Estate Administration team in Islandia, NY. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented and client-focused attorney who can guide families through the estate administration process with clarity and compassion.

Duties

  • Handle all aspects of probate and estate administration matters from inception through completion.
  • Prepare and file probate and administration petitions in Surrogate's Court.
  • Manage estate assets, including identifying, valuing, and transferring assets.
  • Communicate directly with clients, beneficiaries, and fiduciaries.
  • Draft legal documents including petitions, accountings, and related filings.
  • Coordinate with financial institutions and other third parties.
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure efficient case progression.

Requirements

  • Admitted to practice in New York.
  • 3+ years of experience in probate and estate administration required.
  • Strong knowledge of Surrogate's Court procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Experience with elder law or estate planning is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in New York.
