A law firm is seeking a diligent Junior Trademark Attorney to join its New York City office. The ideal candidate brings 1–6 years of trademark prosecution or counseling experience, coupled with an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering. This role offers a unique chance to blend technical knowledge with brand-protection practice within a supportive team environment.

Duties

  • Guide clients through trademark clearance, registration, and renewal processes

  • Prepare and file trademark applications domestically and internationally

  • Conduct comprehensive trademark searches and analyze clearance risks

  • Draft office action responses and handle USPTO correspondence

  • Coordinate with foreign counsel on international filings and prosecution strategies

  • Support senior attorneys in portfolio management and client presentations

  • Monitor trademark watch services and advise clients on potential infringements

Requirements

  • 1–6 years of practical experience in trademark law or intellectual property practice

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field

  • Admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

  • Proven ability to interpret technical specifications and translate them into legal arguments

  • Excellent written advocacy and meticulous attention to detail

  • Capacity to manage multiple matters under tight deadlines

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA‐accredited institution

  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E. or B.S.)

Certifications

  • Active good‐standing membership with a state bar association

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem‐solving aptitude

  • Proficient in drafting clear, persuasive legal documents

  • Familiarity with USPTO electronic filing systems and IP docketing software

  • Effective collaboration and communication, both verbal and written

  • Aptitude for learning new technologies and legal developments
