A leading law firm is seeking a junior-level associate to join its Antitrust & Competition practice in Chicago. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile transactions, regulatory investigations, and litigation involving federal and state antitrust authorities. The role is well-suited for candidates looking to deepen their experience in merger clearance, second request investigations, and antitrust litigation.

Location

Duties

  • Assist in handling antitrust investigations by the FTC and DOJ

  • Support complex merger reviews, including second request processes

  • Draft and prepare filings for regulatory clearance

  • Collaborate on litigation involving merger challenges and enforcement actions

  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda related to competition law

  • Provide regulatory counseling on potential antitrust risks and compliance

Requirements

  • 1–4 years of relevant antitrust/competition experience

  • Experience in second request investigations or merger litigation (preferred)

  • Strong interest in antitrust regulation, investigations, and litigation

  • Government agency experience (FTC or DOJ) is a plus

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications

  • Admission to the bar in Illinois or eligibility for prompt admission

Skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage complex regulatory tasks
