Duties

  • Provide counsel and legal services to clients.
  • Advocate before Congress and federal agencies.
  • Develop strategies for client issues in Congress and with agencies.
  • Track and research Congressional legislation and federal regulations.
  • Draft testimony, briefing papers, and talking points.
  • Draft agreements and analyze legal documents.
  • Comply with court, state bar, and office policies.
  • Participate in business development functions.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in relevant legal fields.
  • Experience with Indian tribes or tribal entities on various legal issues.
  • Familiarity with tribal and federal Indian law.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and writing abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Willingness to travel frequently for client meetings and hearings.
  • Effective communication skills with Tribal clients and agency representatives.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active member in good standing of D.C. bar or other state jurisdiction.
