Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate in Milwaukee, WI. The role involves advising clients on cybersecurity incidents, data breaches, and compliance with data privacy laws. The associate will support mergers and acquisitions, draft agreements, and develop best practices for data governance.

Duties

• Advise clients on responding to cybersecurity incidents and data breaches.
• Provide support on data privacy and cybersecurity due diligence in mergers and acquisitions.
• Draft and negotiate agreements related to technology, AI, and data privacy.
• Advise on data privacy laws including GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA.
• Develop best practices for data governance and AI.
• Draft cybersecurity policies and conduct tabletop exercises.
• Assist in managing technology disputes.
• Communicate compliance recommendations to supervising attorneys.

Requirements

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Admitted or eligible for admission to practice in Wisconsin.
• Experience as a junior associate or in-house counsel.
• Certified Information Privacy Professional Certification preferred.
• Experience in cyber-incident response and AI governance.

Education

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM) preferred.
