Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney with 4+ years of litigation experience to join their Aviation and Transportation Practice Group in Chicago, IL. This position is ideal for a litigator with experience in products liability, transportation, or insurance defense, aiming to specialize in aviation and high-exposure matters.

Duties

• Manage all phases of litigation, including pleadings, motion practice, discovery, depositions, and trial preparation.
• Represent clients in aviation, transportation, and products liability matters involving personal injury, property damage, and commercial disputes.
• Advise clients on regulatory, operational, and risk-related aviation issues, including familiarity with FAA regulations.
• Draft and negotiate complex contracts for aviation-related transactions.
• Participate in client meetings, depositions, hearings, and mediations, with travel as required.

Requirements

• 4+ years of civil litigation experience and an active Illinois bar license.
• Background in products liability, transportation, or insurance defense.
• Aviation or transportation experience, or a demonstrated interest, is a plus.
• Some coverage experience preferred but not required.
• Exceptional writing, analytical, and verbal communication skills.
• Interest in developing a specialized practice within a collaborative team environment.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of their work.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active Illinois bar license.
