Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Senior Affordable Housing Associate in Portland, OR. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in affordable housing and a strong background in real estate transactions. This role involves working with a dynamic team to provide legal counsel on various real estate matters.

Duties

  • Manage the full lifecycle of affordable housing deals, including site control and due diligence.
  • Draft and negotiate core deal documents such as development and partnership agreements.
  • Coordinate with lenders, investors, and government agencies on complex transactions.
  • Advise on HUD programs and state housing finance agency requirements.
  • Handle preservation, resyndications, and rehabilitation projects.

Requirements

  • Six or more years of experience in affordable housing.
  • Proficiency in LIHTC and tax-exempt bond financings.
  • Experience with multi-party, multi-deadline transactions.
  • JD and active bar membership in good standing.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership.

Skills

  • Strong negotiation and drafting skills.
  • Ability to manage complex transactions.
  • Familiarity with HUD and state housing programs.
