Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Oil and Gas Associate for its Washington, D.C. office. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience in oil and gas law and regulatory work, with a focus on representing large energy companies.

Duties

  • Engage in oil and gas regulatory work and representation of energy companies.
  • Participate in federal energy policy and initiative discussions.
  • Handle administrative law matters, including federal agency challenges and appeals.
  • Advise on federal laws impacting the oil and gas industry.
  • Assist in civil enforcement defense and related litigation.

Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Admitted to the D.C. Bar or eligible to waive in.
  • Work in the office at least three business days per week.

Education

  • Strong academic credentials required.

Certifications

  • Admitted to the D.C. Bar or eligible to waive in.

Skills

  • Knowledge of oil and gas law and regulatory frameworks.
  • Understanding of federal energy policies and initiatives.
  • Experience with administrative law and federal agency actions.
  • Familiarity with NEPA, OCSLA, Mineral Leasing Act, ESA, and CWA preferred.
