Job Overview:
A national labor and employment law firm is seeking a Pre-Litigation Associate or Of Counsel to join its fully remote practice. This role focuses on handling employment-related pre-litigation matters, including demand letters, administrative charges, and record requests, primarily involving California employment law issues.

Duties:

  • Independently manage pre-litigation employment matters, including demand letters, agency charges, and records requests
  • Assess claims and provide legal analysis and recommendations to clients and insurance carriers
  • Communicate directly with clients and carriers regarding case strategy and resolution
  • Handle settlement-related matters, including participation in mediations
  • Collaborate with the firm’s professional development and legal teams on client work product
  • Complete firm and client administrative responsibilities on time
  • Work with office leadership, litigation managers, and staffing teams on assigned matters
  • Maintain compliance with applicable ethical and professional obligations

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of California employment litigation experience for Associate-level consideration
  • Generally, 9+ years of relevant experience and demonstrated first-chair capability for Of Counsel consideration
  • Experience handling demand letters, agency and administrative charges, and records requests
  • Ability to independently manage matters without senior attorney review
  • Active California Bar admission and good standing required
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume remote environment

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Active admission to the California State Bar

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and large document volumes
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, operations, and support teams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
