Duties

  • Prepare and prosecute patents across various technology areas, focusing on medical devices and bioinformatics.
  • Manage foreign prosecution and render opinions to clients.
  • Engage extensively and promptly with in-house attorneys, inventors, and firm practitioners.

Requirements

  • USPTO Registration or commitment to take the exam within 6 months of start date.
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering, physics, or related discipline.
  • Conscientious, detail-oriented, and effective communicator.
  • Team player with collaborative skills at all levels.
  • For candidates with less than 3 years of experience, willingness to work at least 3 days a week in Seattle, WA or Spokane, WA office.
  • Technical understanding of machine learning models, human physiology, genomics, signal processing, and analog circuits.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • Juris Doctorate.
  • Advanced degree in bioengineering or biomedical engineering.
  • Technical understanding of computer networks, polymer chemistry, medical imaging, genetic sequencing, bioinformatics, electrophysiology, mechanical devices, and fluid dynamics.

Education

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering, physics, or related discipline.

Certifications

  • USPTO Registration or commitment to take the exam within 6 months of start date.

Skills

  • Effective communication with clients, attorneys, and staff.
