Mid or Senior-Level Project Finance Attorney

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in Los Angeles, CA is actively seeking a skilled Project Finance Attorney at the mid to senior level. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in financing, M&A, and the development of energy and infrastructure projects. The role offers a dynamic and challenging opportunity within a growing energy and infrastructure team, particularly focused on sponsor-side transactions.

Duties:

  • Lead and manage transactional legal matters related to large-scale energy and infrastructure projects, including renewable and conventional power, and energy projects.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review credit and security documentation, power purchase agreements (PPAs), purchase and sale agreements, and merger documents.
  • Oversee closings for financings, acquisitions, and dispositions in energy and infrastructure sectors.
  • Collaborate with clients to structure and negotiate agreements related to power purchase, supply, and offtake agreements.
  • Provide legal counsel on a broad spectrum of projects across industries, including renewable energy, hydrogen, carbon capture, battery storage, and data centers.
  • Manage complex projects and transactions with significant autonomy and leadership opportunities.

Requirements:

  • 4-6 years or more of experience in project finance, M&A, and energy infrastructure law at a large national or international law firm.
  • Strong background in transactional work involving renewable and conventional power projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with drafting and negotiating PPAs and related agreements.
  • Proven ability to handle complex negotiations and manage multiple large transactions simultaneously.
  • Prior experience in running and managing closings for project finance transactions or acquisitions in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
  • A client-focused approach with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in California or ability to waive into the California Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong legal writing and communication skills.
  • Expertise in project finance and energy law.
  • Advanced negotiation skills with a focus on renewable energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams and complex projects.
  • High attention to detail and analytical thinking.
