Job Overview

A law firm seeks a skilled Estate Planning Attorney in Portland, OR. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in estate planning, including drafting wills and trusts, administering estates, and advising on tax strategies. This role requires a strong understanding of estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax laws, along with exceptional interpersonal skills to build lasting client relationships.

Duties

  • Advise clients on estate planning, including wills, trusts, and healthcare directives.
  • Draft estate planning documents tailored to client needs.
  • Conduct client consultations and collaborate on tax minimization strategies.
  • Handle trust and estate administration, including probate proceedings.
  • Stay current on changes to estate, gift, and inheritance tax laws.
  • Coordinate with financial advisors and other professionals.
  • Support clients with gifting strategies and charitable planning.
  • Handle guardianship and conservatorship matters as needed.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in Oregon and/or Washington.
  • 3-5 years of experience in estate planning and administration.
  • Strong drafting and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of federal and state tax laws related to estates and trusts.
  • Excellent client communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple client matters independently.
  • LL.M. in Taxation or CFP designation is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in Oregon and/or Washington.

Skills

  • Strong drafting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent client communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple client matters efficiently.
