A well-established litigation firm in California, specializing in Lemon Law, is seeking an entry-level Associate Attorney to join its team. This role involves working on behalf of consumers pursuing claims against car manufacturers and dealers. The position offers an excellent opportunity for a junior attorney to gain hands-on experience in various litigation phases, including discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation. The role is hybrid, with flexible work-from-home options.

Duties

  • Draft written discovery and responses, review document productions, and participate in e-discovery.
  • Prepare motions and responses related to discovery disputes and pleading challenges.
  • Conduct oral arguments in court for case management, discovery, and ex parte requests.
  • Attend and defend depositions of consumer clients and conduct witness depositions.
  • Participate in vehicle inspections alongside expert witnesses.
  • Report and bill hours worked, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support additional litigation tasks, including dispositive motions and trial preparation as needed.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Member in good standing with the California Bar.
  • 6 months to 3 years of experience in litigation (experience in Lemon Law not required).
  • Genuine interest in consumer protection and advocacy.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel within California for court appearances, depositions, and inspections.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in California.

Skills

  • Proficient in MS Office, Westlaw, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Comfortable with technology and working in a paperless environment.
