Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join its Toxic Tort defense team in Chicago, IL. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and grow under the mentorship of experienced trial lawyers while contributing to high-profile, complex litigation.

Duties

  • Manage a robust caseload with a focus on toxic tort (asbestos) defense.
  • Handle cases from inception through resolution or trial in collaboration with partners.
  • Participate in depositions, court appearances, and more.
  • Contribute to strategy discussions and case planning.

Requirements

  • Licensed in Illinois (active and in good standing); admission in MO or IN is a plus.
  • 1-5 years of experience in civil defense litigation.
  • Experience in drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery.
  • Strong writing and advocacy skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Experience with mediations/arbitrations is a plus but not required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois.
