Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Remote Civil Litigation Attorney to join their practice in Houston, TX. This fully remote position allows for flexibility while representing clients throughout Texas and in federal court. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business and real estate litigation and be licensed to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Duties

  • Manage a diverse civil litigation caseload from pre-suit through trial.
  • Represent business owners, real estate investors, and commercial clients in state and federal courts.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, legal memoranda, contracts, and settlement agreements.
  • Conduct depositions, mediations, hearings, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Develop litigation strategy and provide practical legal counsel to clients.
  • Collaborate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff in a fully remote environment.
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping and meet a minimum expectation of 50 billable hours per week.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Texas law license in good standing.
  • Admission to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas is required.
  • Five or more years of civil litigation experience.
  • Demonstrated experience practicing business law and real estate law.
  • Proven trial experience, including courtroom advocacy.
  • Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and case management skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting deadlines and client expectations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in estate planning and/or tax law.
  • Existing book of business or business development experience is a plus.
  • Experience advising entrepreneurs, closely held businesses, commercial property owners, or real estate investors.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active Texas law license in good standing.
  • Admission to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Skills

  • Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and case management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
