Job Overview:
A respected Lehigh Valley-based law firm is seeking a full-time Special Education Attorney to join its Education Law and Litigation team. The ideal candidate will bring at least three years of litigation experience and possess the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. This role involves advising educational institutions and representing clients in special education matters, requiring strong legal analysis, advocacy skills, and a deep understanding of applicable laws and procedures.

Location:

  • Allentown, PA

Duties:

  • Represent educational institutions in special education disputes, including due process hearings and administrative proceedings

  • Provide legal counsel regarding compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and related federal and state regulations

  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, memoranda, and settlement agreements

  • Engage in direct communication with clients, opposing counsel, and relevant agencies

  • Collaborate with internal team members and external stakeholders to facilitate legal solutions

  • Conduct legal research and maintain up-to-date knowledge on special education law

  • Participate in negotiations and mediation as required

  • Support litigation efforts including trial preparation and resolution strategies

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience

  • Demonstrated ability to manage caseloads independently and effectively

  • Strong interpersonal and resolution facilitation skills

  • Ability to manage sensitive client matters with discretion and professionalism

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (required)

Skills:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities

  • Strong legal research, analysis, and drafting skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and self-directed

  • Ability to build strong client relationships and collaborate effectively across teams
