Duties

  • Represent governmental entities in federal and state courts in civil rights litigation.
  • Conduct legal research, analysis, and develop case strategies.
  • Draft and file legal documents, argue motions, and manage depositions.
  • Prepare for and assist in trial proceedings.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients on litigation strategies.
  • Maintain accurate case records and documentation.
  • Engage in settlement negotiations when appropriate.
  • Provide legal advice on civil rights issues.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the Illinois State Bar.
  • 3-10 years of experience in civil rights litigation in federal and state courts.
  • Trial experience is a plus.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel within Illinois as required.

Education
