Trial Attorney Insurance Litigation & Defense

A law firm is searching for a seasoned Trial Attorney with a well-established background in insurance-related litigation. This role is designed for an advocate who thrives in the courtroom, possesses deep experience handling complex insurance disputes, and is eager to take cases from inception through resolution. The position requires a proactive approach to litigation, strategic case management, and the ability to provide insightful legal counsel to clients. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Litigation Efforts: Oversee all phases of civil litigation, including insurance coverage disputes, bad faith claims, and general defense matters.
• Deposition Mastery: Conduct and defend depositions with confidence and strategic precision.
• Motion Practice: Draft and argue motions, including dispositive motions such as those for summary judgment.
• Trial Preparation & Strategy: Engage in trial preparation, develop case theories, and collaborate with senior attorneys on trial strategy.
• Examinations Under Oath (EUOs): Conduct thorough examinations of insureds and witnesses to assess coverage and liability.
• Client Advisory Role: Maintain open and effective communication with clients, providing strategic legal guidance and case updates.
• Business Development & Growth: Contribute to client development initiatives and demonstrate leadership with a long-term perspective on firm expansion.

Qualifications:

• Legal Experience: A decade or more of litigation experience is preferred, though candidates with fewer years will be considered if they have meaningful trial exposure. A strong background in insurance defense, civil litigation, bad faith litigation, coverage disputes, and Examinations Under Oath (EUOs)
• Courtroom Readiness: Proven ability to handle trials independently or play a key role in trial proceedings.
• Client-Focused: Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with clients while providing clear and effective legal counsel.
• Collaborative & Independent Worker: Comfortable managing cases autonomously while also contributing to a team-oriented legal practice.
• State Licensing: Active license to practice law in California, with a Certificate of Good Standing.
