Job Overview

A law firm seeks a dedicated, experienced attorney licensed in New York to join their team in Cranford, NJ. The role involves managing mortgage and lending client case portfolios across New York, with potential for fully remote work for the right candidate.

Duties

  • Draft legal pleadings, notices of hearings, motions, and orders.
  • Research and analyze statutes, judicial decisions, and legal articles.
  • Update case management system to ensure data integrity.
  • Attend court appearances, hearings, and settlement conferences.
  • Communicate and collaborate with clients and internal staff.
  • Identify legal issues requiring additional review.
  • Establish follow-up systems to meet deadlines for pleadings.
  • Manage a high volume of files with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Review and correct case work prepared by paralegals.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active New York State Bar Admission in good standing.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in New York practice.
  • Willingness to travel to court as needed.
  • Litigation skills including drafting motions and conducting oral arguments.
  • Experience in mortgage default, appellate practice, and/or eviction preferred.
  • Familiarity with client systems like Black Knight and electronic case management systems like CaseAware.
  • Knowledge of legal codes and court procedures.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with clients and staff.
  • Flexibility, self-direction, and motivation.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle a large volume of cases.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Education

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • New York State Bar Admission, active and in good standing.
