Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Immigration Attorney - EOIR in Houston, TX, for a remote position requiring in-person court appearances in Dallas. The attorney will manage their caseload, interact with clients, and collaborate with a team of attorneys and legal assistants.

Duties

  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions.
  • Represent individuals in removal proceedings at Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a workload of cases.
  • Conduct intake with detained individuals at centers.
  • Prepare diverse immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as needed.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and community organizations on immigration law changes.
  • Conduct strategic immigration consultations with potential clients.
  • Develop strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court/USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to determine case benefits.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements

  • 1-5 years of immigration law experience.
  • Team player open to collaboration and strategizing.
  • Preferably bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and advance legal cases.
  • Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, EOIR, detained cases, citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Experience with case management software is preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law.

Skills

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
