Senior Counsel - Liability and Excess Coverage

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Senior Counsel attorney to join its insurance coverage litigation practice in Seattle. This role involves providing strategic guidance to insurance companies on coverage analysis and defending against bad faith claims across various jurisdictions.

Duties

• Analyze rights and obligations under insurance policies and draft coverage opinions.
• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda.
• Prepare and analyze pleadings, discovery, motions, and legal correspondence.
• Meet and confer with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties.
• Attend depositions, hearings, and mediations.
• Manage matters, deadlines, and client communication proactively.

Requirements

• Admitted to practice in Washington State.
• Experience in insurance coverage and litigation or commercial litigation with an interest in insurance coverage.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive and time-sensitive matters.
• Effective problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in Washington State.
