Job Overview

A law firm seeks a patent agent or patent attorney with a minimum of five years of experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the biotechnology field for its New York office. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in drafting patent applications related to in vitro diagnostic assays and familiarity with areas such as immunoassays, CRISPR-based assays, and nucleic acid sequencing.

Duties

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications in biotechnology.
  • Draft patent applications for in vitro diagnostic assays.
  • Manage patent portfolios effectively.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in a law firm setting.
  • Experience with patent databases and search tools.
  • Familiarity with immunoassays, CRISPR-based assays, and related technologies.

Education

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in molecular biology or a closely related discipline preferred.
  • B.S. in a relevant field with five or more years of post-graduate experience considered.

Certifications

  • Active registration with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office required for patent agents.
  • Active bar admission in California or New York required for patent attorneys.
