Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly skilled Partner for its Washington, DC office with extensive experience in estate, wealth, and gift tax planning, trust and estate administration, and business succession planning. This role involves assuming key client relationships and managing a well-developed portfolio of sophisticated matters as part of the firm's strategic planning.

Duties

  • Advise high-net-worth clients on complex estate and wealth transfer strategies.
  • Develop asset protection structures and manage trust administration.
  • Plan business succession and charitable strategies.
  • Identify and address income, estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax issues.
  • Draft and implement planning documents, including various trusts and agreements.
  • Collaborate with CPAs, wealth advisors, and family office teams.
  • Assist with family governance and multigenerational planning.
  • Conduct legal and financial audits of client structures.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with a strong academic record.
  • Active bar membership in good standing in the District of Columbia.
  • 7+ years of experience in estate planning, wealth transfer, or trust and estate administration.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax rules.
  • Proven ability to work with high-net-worth clients and manage sensitive family dynamics.
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of advanced estate planning and tax techniques.
  • Experience with complex family dynamics and high-net-worth clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple sophisticated matters with discretion.
  • Self-starter thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Commitment to client service and relationship building.

Education

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in the District of Columbia.
