Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Immigration Removal Attorney for a remote position based in the U.S. The role involves developing and implementing defense strategies for clients facing removal proceedings.

Duties

  • Develop and implement removal defense strategies for clients.
  • Represent clients in immigration court and before the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare and file legal briefs, motions, and appeals.
  • Stay current with changes in immigration law and regulations.
  • Manage caseload and meet deadlines for court appearances and filings.
  • Ensure transparent and accurate billing for services provided.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and admission to a state bar.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing immigration law, with a focus on removal defense.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to social justice and serving immigrant communities.
  • Active Texas Bar License.

Education

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to a state bar.

Skills

  • Skilled in preparing legal briefs, client declarations, and conducting hearings.
  • Proficiency in legal case management software.
  • Familiarity with forms of relief such as asylum, cancellation of removal, SIJS, and VAWA.
