This role involves assisting in all aspects of personal injury cases, from initial client consultations through trial preparation, with proficiency in legal research, drafting documents, and managing case files.

Duties

  • Assist in preparing legal documents related to personal injury cases, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw.
  • Draft correspondence and maintain communication with clients, witnesses, and experts.
  • Organize and manage case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Prepare for depositions, hearings, and trials by compiling evidence and creating trial binders.
  • Perform tasks related to litigation processes, including filing documents with the court and tracking deadlines.
  • Collaborate on case strategy and provide insights based on research findings.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information in compliance with legal standards.

Requirements

  • Prior litigation experience in a plaintiff firm setting.
  • Proven experience as an attorney or in a similar role within a law office environment.
  • Familiarity with personal injury law and workers' compensation law.
  • Strong negotiation skills and effective communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in legal drafting and administrative tasks related to case management.
  • Excellent research skills with the ability to analyze complex legal issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management software (e.g., Smart Advocate).

Education

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Good standing with the New York State Bar.
  • New Jersey State admission, a plus.
  • Current admission to EDNY and SDNY preferred.
