Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Litigation Attorney in Fort Lee, NJ. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload with a primary focus on trial work in probate and civil litigation matters. This role requires a self-directed, detail-oriented attorney who demonstrates sound legal judgment, strong advocacy skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.

Duties

  • Handle contested probate matters, guardianships, conservatorships, and elder financial abuse claims.
  • Manage all aspects of trials, including drafting pleadings, discovery, and motion practice.
  • Conduct depositions and prepare and respond to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admissions.
  • Research and analyze complex legal issues; draft memoranda, briefs, and court filings.
  • Appear in state and/or federal court on behalf of clients at hearings, conferences, and trials.
  • Negotiate settlements and assist in alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients regarding case status, strategy, and developments.
  • Manage case files and litigation calendars to ensure deadlines and court schedules are met.
  • Exercise sound billing judgment; prepare accurate and timely entries consistent with firm billing practices.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of litigation experience required.
  • Strong advocacy skills and sound legal judgment.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional client service.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of New Jersey.

Skills
