Disability Attorney

Job Overview
A law firm seeks a Disability Attorney in Syracuse, NY, to join their legal team. This role involves reviewing Administrative Law Judge decisions, identifying errors, crafting persuasive arguments, and potentially appearing before the New York State Workers' Compensation Board if licensed in New York.

Duties

• Review ALJ decisions, hearing transcripts, and medical evidence to identify appealable issues.
• Create detailed, persuasive Appeals Council briefs and written arguments.
• Collaborate with paralegals and support staff to ensure case files are complete and deadlines are met.
• Maintain accurate case tracking and uphold quality and productivity standards.
• Manage deadlines and ensure compliance.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; New York Bar license preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience in Social Security Disability law, administrative law, or appellate work preferred.
• Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail and time management abilities.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
