Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Oil and Gas Title Attorney in Columbus, OH. This full-time role involves conducting title examinations and providing legal guidance on oil and gas transactions. The attorney will collaborate with senior attorneys to deliver precise and timely solutions to clients.

Duties

  • Conduct title examinations to determine ownership of oil and gas properties.
  • Analyze documents such as deeds, leases, and contracts to establish ownership rights.
  • Draft title opinions highlighting defects, liens, or issues affecting property ownership.
  • Conduct due diligence reviews for mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
  • Provide guidance on legal risks and strategies for mitigating issues in transactions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements and contracts, ensuring compliance with laws.
  • Stay updated on relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with litigation attorneys if legal action is necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to execute complex legal transactions.
  • Meet quarterly billable requirement of 450 hours.
  • Actively pursue continuous learning opportunities.
  • Support other activities and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license.
  • At least one year of experience drafting title opinions for lands in Ohio, West Virginia, or Pennsylvania.
  • Familiarity with preparing large, unit-wide division order ownerships.
  • Exceptional commitment to ethical practice and client confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Passion for professional development and skill enhancement.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

  • Active legal license.
