Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Estate Planning and Trust Administration Associate Attorney in Laguna Hills, CA. This role involves direct client interaction, guiding them through estate planning processes, and ensuring their needs are met with expertise and care. The position offers a supportive environment without the burden of client acquisition or excessive administrative tasks.

Duties

  • Guide clients through estate planning from design to execution and funding.
  • Review estate plans drafted by paralegals for accuracy and client alignment.
  • Conduct execution meetings to ensure client understanding and trust funding.
  • Collaborate with trust administration associates for seamless matter handoffs.
  • Assist with basic business entity formation as needed.
  • Track billable time accurately, meeting a target of 32 hours per week.
  • Operate within established systems to maintain efficient client matter progress.
  • Contribute to a team culture of accountability and excellence.

Requirements

  • Active California State Bar license in good standing.
  • Minimum 3 years of substantive estate planning experience; 5+ years preferred.
  • Experience with trust-centered estate plans and advanced planning strategies.
  • Comfort and confidence in direct client communication.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and client trust management.
  • Experience in a boutique or small firm environment preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MyCase or similar CRM, and WealthCounsel or similar drafting software.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
