Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Estate and Trust Attorney in Newport Beach, CA. The attorney will manage both contested and uncontested probate and trust matters, advise on fiduciary disputes, and represent clients in litigation proceedings. This role requires strategic case management and collaboration with the firm's estate trust and administration teams.

Duties

  • Analyze legal problems and create strategic plans for clients.
  • Communicate asset distribution plans with clients.
  • Collaborate with senior partners and paralegals in civil litigation.
  • Draft and file wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.
  • Represent clients in probate and trust litigation, including will contests and fiduciary duty claims.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze complex issues.
  • Participate in mediations and court hearings.
  • Maintain timely communication and provide legal advice to clients.
  • Manage deadlines and case files with attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills, especially in high-stress situations.
  • Minimum 3+ years of probate or trust litigation experience or strong litigation background.
  • Experience handling court appearances independently.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree with a legal background.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree required.

Certifications

  • Active member of the American Bar Association.
  • Active member of the California State Bar.

Skills

  • Knowledge of title insurance, wills, trusts, and real estate law.
